» Greenkeeping Report: February 2010       4 Feb 2010 [ Click to view/hide ]

January was a tough month for golfers and green keepers. Let’s hope that we have left the snow behind!

This month, we shall be easing our way back into a more regular maintenance programme which should see aeration, mowing, rolling increase along with a light sand dressing to the greens and plant nutrients being applied. The aim being to strengthen the plant, keep the greens dry, stress/disease free and to encourage a consistent ball roll.

Course improvements to look out for this month include:

  • 4th Hole Academy completion of drainage & turfing.
  • 1st Tee path Millennium, standing area to be improved.
  • 150 yard markers to be placed on fairways.
  • Irrigation upgrade project to be finalised and levelling of disturbed areas.

We have taken delivery of a new tractor at a cost of £20,000 which means we are now in a great position to continue our improvements to key areas early on in the season. Timing of operations is everything for our success but having the correct equipment at our disposal is a basic must!

Many thanks for your continued support.

Andy Greenslade
Head Greenkeeper
